Firm Matter ID - an automatic field

The Firm Matter ID is the Tax ID number for the firm, can this be filled in behind the scenes for each matter or in a different place instead of showing for each file/matter/case? That information seems to not be consistent on all cases because it's easy to fill in anything in that field.
